I notice most references to Gog in modern publications and Blogs associate him with the anti-Christ of John’s Revelation chapter 20. There is much to do about the rise of the anti-Christ and little mention of his demise. The prophet Ezekiel gives us a vivid description of Gog’s demise and the specific timing of his demise should eliminate his consideration as the personage of John’s anti-Christ. These two references are clearly not the same individual.

Ezekiel’s references to (Gog) and his federation is comprised of regions from antiquity as well as current geopolitical nations of his time. Ezekiel’s specific (veiled) references to the King of the North (Gog) are names associated with regions settled by the descendants of Noah some 1600 years prior to the time of his prophecy (see Genesis chapter 10).

While attentions are focused on Russia/Ukraine tensions, I would be watching for the King of the North to make a move against Israel. The King of the North or more accurately termed “Gog” is characterized as an opportunist by the phrase in Eze 38:4 … “with hooks in his jaws” or in other words; to be tempted and drawn in by opportunity. If you have read my Ezekiel commentary then you know, I don’t believe Russia is the mystery “King of the North” or rather I should say Gog/Magog.

Most of the words used by theologians confuse the simple truth of God’s love and his grace. It’s not necessary, GOD’S LOVE IS SIMPLE! Shortly after publishing this poem, several parishioners asked, “what happened to the country preacher I knew”? Case in point; this poem was intended to point out that the theological and philosophical aspects of religious thought often convolute the simple truth of Gods love and plan of salvation.
