One of the primary arguments used to establish a Russian as Gog or the Antichrist comes from the reference to the “King of the North” by the prophet Daniel. What is interesting is that the prophet Daniel actually tells us just the opposite! Daniel’s reference to the “King of the North” in chapter 11 actually describes the opposition to the Antichrist of the end times “NOT“ the Antichrist himself. So then we must ask ourselves; who then is the real “King of the North” in Daniel’s prophecy?
(Daniel 11:40) And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him (antichrist) like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. (Daniel 11:41) He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. (Daniel 11:42) He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. (Daniel 11:43) But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. (Daniel 11:44) But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. (Daniel 11:45) And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. The sandwich scripture! Daniel 11:44 I call your attention to what I call the "sandwich" scripture. This scripture reveals that the Antichrist is "sandwiched" between a King of the North and a King of the South for a violent confrontation. This makes the point that the Antichrist is violently opposed and most important to this discussion is not the farthest Northern Kingdom! So who in farther North than Russia? Precisely, NO ONE! This proves that the Antichrist is NOT the furthest north. I would ask you to pay particular attention to the pronouns (he, his, or him) in these scriptures. The vast majority of scholars agree that these (he, his, or him) pronouns reference the "Antichrist" of the end times. So, then one must ask themselves; who then is the real 'King of the North"? Well we're not sure but It's clear that this King of the North is not a Russian Antichrist.
Well in any case, HE IS NOT THE ANTICHRIST! No reasonable analysis can deny that the prophet Daniel did not use the term “King of the North” to describe the Antichrist! Daniel also debunks the notion that the Antichrist goes without serious opposition all the way to the end of time! We see considerable opposition to him referenced in Daniel.
This subject is a great example of how so many false teachings exist and it is high time we took the prophets at their word. We need to accept the word ONLY as our authorities! We need to reject unfounded opinions, I’ve always said, let the scriptures alone prove themselves. I don’t doubt that Russia will be a major participant in end time prophecies but we need to let the Word of God be the authority and quit trying to influence prophetic teaching with modern OPINIONS.
