I am shocked at how many Christians seem obsessed with the question of who is the “person” of Gog in Ezekiel’s Chapter 38/39 prophecy? The who of this prophecy should not be the primary focus of this message. God gave Ezekiel this prophecy to reveal His jealousy over Israel and reveal what we can expect His reaction to be when Gog and his buddies threaten His beloved Israel. We should be very focused on what God will do to Gog and his alliance! The last verse of chapter 38 states this very clearly! God will use this conflict to make known,
“I am the LORD”!
(Eze 38:18) And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. (Eze 38:19) For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; (Eze 38:20) So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. (Eze 38:21) And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother. (Eze 38:22) And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. (Eze 38:23) Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
God will make known to the world that He is God and anyone who challenges Israel will pay dearly! This is what we should all be hearing from this prophecy. The who is not the point; the fate of Gog and his alliance is the point! God’s judgment of the enemies of Israel is imminent!
Yes, I can smell the brimstone!
I certainly can; if you are truly watching end time events then you know that God’s judgment is sure and it is near! This conflict is the catalyst event that will trigger the Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation. Gog can not be the person of the Antichrist and is clearly stated in Ezekiel 39:11. Gog is killed and buried in Israel. If you don’t understand this you should read my commentary of Ezekiel 38/39. Gog and the Antichrist are two very distinctly different men from different times; at least seven years separated.
I can also recommend an article regarding the Syrian Civil War which is really a “PROXY” war that is being used by the Gog alliance described in Ezekiel 38/39 and will result in the destruction of Damascus as revealed in Isa 17.
There are numerous unfulfilled prophecies that may be fulfilled in close proximity to each other; destruction of Damascus, destruction of Gog, destruction of Elam (Iran), and the Rapture! I sense that these events will be like dominoes falling. Any one of these events could be the catalyst event for the others! We are monitoring all of these with great expectations! In either case, I believe we should emphasize God’s participation rather than the identity of these rebellious participants. I want to stay focused on God’s participation in our salvation.
We live in a time when too much emphasis is placed on the decadents and their behaviors. We need to be focus on how God will deal with their sinful deeds. We need to reject their perverted behavior and call it what it is; SIN! If we will repent then we can assure we are on the right side of His judgements. God will deal with LGBTQ+ decadents as He has historically and will prophetically. There should be no doubt God will deal severely with these abominations! We need to stand firm and refuse to be forced to participate in their sinful ways!
